Biomarker FAQ
A biomarker is a measurable indicator of biological processes in your body. Blood biomarkers include cholesterol levels, blood sugar, hormones, vitamins, and proteins that reveal how well your organs and systems are functioning.
Rite Aid tests 200+ biomarkers covering cardiovascular health, metabolic function, hormones, vitamins, minerals, organ function, and inflammation markers.
A blood test is the method of collection. Biomarkers are what you measure. One blood draw can measure dozens of biomarkers, each providing different health information.
The most important cardiovascular biomarkers are ApoB, LDL-P, Lp(a), hs-CRP, and triglyceride/HDL ratio. These predict heart disease risk better than basic cholesterol.
HbA1c, fasting glucose, and fasting insulin are the key diabetes biomarkers. Fasting insulin often rises years before blood sugar becomes abnormal, making it an early warning sign.
Some biomarkers can indicate cancer risk. PSA for prostate, liver enzymes for liver cancer, and certain tumor markers may be elevated. However, blood tests alone cannot diagnose cancer.
Twice yearly testing reveals trends your body undergoes with seasons, lifestyle changes, and aging. The Rite Aid membership includes two full panels per year.
Normal ranges are based on population averages and avoid disease diagnosis. Optimal ranges represent where your biomarkers should be for best health and longevity. We show both.
Yes. Hormones like testosterone and DHEA decline with age. Inflammation markers tend to rise. Twice-yearly testing tracks these changes and helps you intervene early.
Vitamin D, B12, ferritin, magnesium, and omega-3 index directly measure nutrient levels. Testing before and after supplementation shows whether your supplements are being absorbed.
