What this test measures
Thyroglobulin Antibodies
High levels of thyroglobulin antibodies can be found in Graves' disease, along with high TPO antibody levels and high TSH receptor antibody levels.
Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies
While not as common as TSH receptor antibodies, high levels of TPO antibodies can also be indicative of Graves' disease, another autoimmune thyroid disorder.
TSI
Graves' disease is a common condition related to high levels of TSI. The presence of thyroid-stimulating immunoglobulins (TSI) prompts the thyroid gland to produce an excessive amount of thyroid hormones, leading to hyperthyroidism, a hallmark of Graves' disease.
T3, Free
Graves' disease is an autoimmune disorder that causes hyperthyroidism, or overactive thyroid. With this disease, your immune system attacks the thyroid and causes it to make more thyroid hormone than your body needs. High levels of free T3 can therefore indicate this condition.
T4, Free, Direct Dialysis
Graves' Disease is an autoimmune disorder that leads to overactivity of the thyroid gland. Elevated free T4 levels are often seen in people with Graves' disease.
T3, Total
Graves' disease is an autoimmune disease that results in hyperthyroidism. The immune system mistakenly attacks the thyroid gland, causing it to produce excessive amounts of T3. High levels of T3 can indicate Graves' disease.
TSH
Graves' Disease is an autoimmune disorder that leads to overactivity of the thyroid gland. Similar to hyperthyroidism, the pituitary gland will reduce TSH production in response to the excess thyroid hormones, leading to low TSH levels.
T3 Reverse, LC/MS/Ms
This condition, also known as Non-Thyroidal Illness Syndrome, often occurs in individuals with severe illnesses. The body reduces the conversion of T4 to active T3 and increases the conversion of T4 to reverse T3 to conserve energy. This can result in high levels of reverse T3.
